Southland Museum

The Southland Museum and Art Gallery is situated on Gala Street Invercargill, adjacent to the Feldwick Gates entrance to Queens Park. It is Southland's largest cultural and heritage institution, and contains a wide variety of exhibitions including Burt Munroe and the Tuatara enclosure.


A main feature and a major attraction of the museum is the Burt Munroe exhibition.



Southlander born and breed Burt Munroe designed and raced the Worlds Fastest Indian of which there has been a Movie made in Invercargill based on Burt Munroe's achievement when he raced his home-built Indian Motor Cycle at the Bornville Salt Flats in USA.
